“Words, Words, Words” is the second concert in the Greenbriar Consortium’s Extreme Music series.  The Consortium, made up of musicians and artists from around town, many from the Houston Symphony, specializes in the presentation of lesser known chamber music, in conjunction with popular repertoire, with the goal of connecting to new audiences by putting the music into different contexts.

Tonight’s concert, curated by Houston Symphony oboist Anne Leek, features guest artists Dean Dalton of Classical 91.7, and Emily Boudreaux, and a premier by Houston composer Mary Carol Warwick, that sets a poem by Ava L. Haymon, Poet Laureate, Louisiana, who will read her piece.

Featured musicians include mezzo-soprano Sonja Bruzauskas; soprano Julia Fox; members of The Piping Rock Singers, Kevin Clarke director; pianists Keith Weber and Tali Morgulis; and a handful of Houston Symphony musicians.  They’ll be offering works by Rossini, Banchieri, Spratlan, Lerner & Lowe, and William Walton’s Façade that explore the effects of words on music and music on words.
