Todd Waite as Crumpet: The Santaland Diaries at the Alley Theatre

Actor Todd Waite reprises his role as “Crumpet the Elf” for the sixth straight year in the Alley Theatre’s annual presentation of The Santaland Diaries based on David Sedaris’ comedy cult classic.  Todd Waite talks with St.John Flynn about the rigors and satisfaction of playing Santa’s irreverent Christmas helper.

The Santaland Diaries, a one-character comedy chronicling Sedaris’ experience as a worker in Santaland at the Macy’s store in Herald Square in New York City, has become a cult classic.  But, as Waite, explains, despite all of Sedaris’ sarcasm and wry observation, the work is, at its core, a true articulation of the Christmas spirit.

The Santaland Diaries in on-stage at the Alley through December 31st.  There’s full information on the Alley Theatre website.
