Shopping and drinking: Now in its eighth year, Fresh Arts’ annual Winter Holiday Art Market (WHAM) is different from Houston’s other yearly art fairs and festivals in that the sellers are strictly locals-only, so you know your money’s going directly to support the Houston arts community. Get a jump on holiday shopping, make inroads into art collecting, and buy directly from the source; you’ll avoid the high mark-ups at galleries and boutiques. The atmosphere includes live music performances and food for sale by local vendors. Maybe the best perk? Open bar.

Fresh Arts executive director Jenni-Rebecca Stephenson talks with Houston Public Media’s Troy Schulze about this year’s event.
