Marilyn Hassid of the Evelyn Rubinstein Jewish Community Center of Houston and Howard Pollack [pictured] of the Moores School of Music preview a lecture-performance taking place tonight at the JCC: A Fine Romance: Jewish Composers, American Songs, 1910 – 1965. Musicians also join us in the studio to perform excerpts from the program, which explores the contributions to the development of American popular music made by Jewish composers, such as Jerome Kern, George Gershwin and Richard Rodgers.

Bob Stevenson gets together in the Geary Performance Studio with Marilyn Hassid, Program Director of Art and Culture at the JCC; musicologist, Howard Pollack, Professor at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music; singer, Bethany Daniels Shapiro; and pianist and vocalist, Henry Darragh.
