Choreographers Sara Draper, Toni Leago Valle and Leslie Scates preview Danceplorations, a showcase of works that explore the intersections of movement, text and voice, presented by Dancepatheatre

Actors Thomas Prior and Pamela Vogel star as the hypocrite, Tartuffe, and his nemesis, Elmire, the mistress of the household, in the Classical Theatre Company‘s production of Molière’s 1664 comedy, Tartuffe, staged by the troupe’s Executive Artistic Director, John Johnston. The  final performances are this weekend at the Barnevelder Theatre. Grace Song, Inc., presents tenor Michael Kelly and pianist Keith Weber in a complete performance of Franz Schubert’s song-cycle, Winterreise – Winter Journey, on poems of Wilhelm Müller. The recital is Saturday afternoon at 5:00PM at Christ Church Cathedral. Admission is free. Kelly and Weber join St. John Flynn in the Geary Performance Studio for a preview session.  Listen Download

KUHF’s Catherine Lu speaks with Toni Valle, Leslie Scates, and Sara Draper. They are three of the six Houston choreographers whose latest work will be featured in Danceplorations. Ms. Draper is the Artistic Director of Dancepatheater, which presents this evening of dance pieces that investigate intersections between movement, story, spoken-word and singing voice.  Also included on the program are works by Houston choreographers, Elizabeth Lucrezio, Lydia Hance and Katelyn Halpern.  Danceplorations is this Saturday evening at 8:00PM at Talento Bilingüe de Houston.  Listen Download
