Film Review: “The Bounty Hunter”

(Columbia Pictures. 1 hour, 46 minutes. Rated PG-13 for sexual content including suggestive comments, language and some violence. Directed by Andy Tennant.) Jennifer Aniston (Nicole Hurley), Gerard Butler (Milo Boyd), Jason Sudeikis (Stewart), Jeff Garlin (Sid), Cathy Moriarty (Irene), Carol Kane (Dawn), Christine Baranski (Kitty Hurley). Music by George Fenton.

A down-on-his luck bounty hunter (Butler) gets to track down his bail-jumping ex-wife (Aniston). There’s plenty of exciting action, comedy, and romance…in some other picture, but not this laugh-free misfire. Aniston’s annoying, and Butler can be charming, but not enough to salvage the proceedings. Let me get out my calculator: I count 11 films that Aniston has starred in since Friends shut down in 2004. Did you plunk down money for any of these: Love Happens, Management, Friends with Money, Rumor Has It? OK, you saw Marley & Me, but that was because of the dog. And speaking of dogs, skip this one.
