KUHF’s Bob Stevenson spoke with Dr. John Yarrington, Director of the School of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Houston Baptist University. He will conduct HBU’s 2010 Winter Choral Concert, which celebrates the University’s fiftieth anniversary and which features the United States première of the Friedenskantate — The Peace Cantata by our other guest, HBU Professor of Music and faculty composer, Ann Gebuhr.  The performance is Friday evening at 7:30PM in Dunham Theater in the Morris Fine Arts Center on the campus of Houston Baptist University. Pianist Clive Swansbourne plays seven short keyboard works by Frédéric Chopin and the Symphonic Etudes of Robert Schumann, in the third of his six recitals celebrating the 200th anniversary of the births of those two seminal Romantic-Era piano virtuosos and composers. The concert is Sunday afternoon at 5:00PM at Christ the King Lutheran Church.  Swansbourne plays excerpts from his program in KUHF’s Geary Performance Studio.  Listen Download

Houston Public Radio’s Bob Stevenson speaks with Geoffrey Lumb and Jennifer Higham, two of the five members of this year’s touring company of Actors From The London Stage. They star as the title characters in their troupe’s production of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, which will be presented this evening, tomorrow night and Saturday at 7:30PM in Hamman Hall on the Rice University campus.  Listen Download
