Marlana Walsh-Doyle is the Managing Director of the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company. Houston Met, Ad Deum and Urban Souls are the three Bayou-City-based professional dance troupes that will each present one new work and one piece from their repertoires on this year’s Triple Focus program, one of the showcase events of thue annual Dance Month at the Jewish Community Center of Houston. There’s one performance only, Saturday night at 8:00PM in the J.C.C’s Kaplan Theatre. KUHF’s  Bob Stevenson speaks with Matt Huff, the director of Stages Repertory Theatre‘s new production of Jeffrey Hatcher’s play, A Picasso. Actors James Belcher and Carolyn Johnson constitute the show’s entire cast, respectively portraying the world famous artist, Pablo Picasso, and his Nazi interrogator, Miss Fischer. Stages presents A Picasso through February 21st, with evening performances Wednesdays through Saturdays and matinees on Sundays.  Listen Download  Extended Interview

Da Camera of Houston presents jazz bassist Ben Allison and his band, Man Size Safe.   They’ll give a full-blown performance as part of Da Camera’s 2009-2010 Jazz Series, Saturday night at 8:00PM in the Cullen Theater of downtown Houston’s Wortham Center and a free interactive family program — including a question-and-and-answer session with the audience — Sunday afternoon at 3:00PM at the Jewish Community Center of Houston of South Braeswood Boulevard. KUHF’s Eric Ladau joins the band in the Geary Performance Studio for a preview session.  Listen Download
