Tenor John Osborn takes the lead role of the lovelorn young peasant, Nemorino and baritone Liam Bonner appears as Nemorino’s rival, the dashing Sergeant Belcore in Houston Grand Opera‘s season-opening production of Gaetano Donizetti’s romantic comedy, L’Elisir d’amore — The Elixir of Love. Flutist Yvonne Kendall is a musicologist and Associate Professor at the University of Houston – Downtown.  Harpsichordist Phillip Kloeckner is a lecturer at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and also directs the United Nations Association International Choir.  They speak with KUHF’s Catherine Lu. The 2nd Annual Hispanic Heritage Concert, presented by the UHD’s Cultural Enrichment Center features Doctors Kendall and Kloeckner, along with Baroque violinist, Andres Gonzales, and viola da gamba player, Brady Lanier performing music by 18th century Spanish composers, much of which has never been recorded, or even heard in the Americas, before!
