The President of the Houston Symphony Society, Bobby Tudor, speaks with KUHF’s  Bob Stevenson. The Symphony announced yesterday that Hans Graf will step down from his full-time position as Music Director following the Orchestra’s 2012-2013 season, to become Conductor Laureate.
We also chat wit Maestro Hans Graf about his next concert with the Houston Symphony. It features a unique program that combines music from Richard Strauss’s der Rosenkavalier and the 1925 film that was inspired by the opera. Choreographer Spencer Gavin Herring is the Artistic Director of the Southern California dance company, Infinite Movement Ever Evolving.  Two of his Houston-based company members, Paola Georgudis and Lindsey McGill, will dance Mr. Herring’s latest work, Dichotomy, on this year’s Weekend of Texas Contemporary Dance. It happens tomorrow and Saturday night at 8:00PM at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston Herrman Park.  Performances are free. TFR host St. John Flynn, speaks with Houston pianist, Jade Simmons, founder and director of the Impulse Artist Series and host of the Webcasts of this year’s 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, held the first week of June in Fort Worth. They spoke about Nobuyuki Tsujii, the twenty-year-old Japanese pianist who was one of two young artists to win the Cliburn Competition’s Gold Medal. Society for the Performing Arts launches its 2009-2010 season by presenting Nobuyuki Tsujii in his Houston debut, a solo recital in which he’ll play works of Beethoven and Chopin. It’s Sunday afternoon at 2:00PM in the Cullen Theater of downtown Houston’s Wortham Center. Listen Download
