We listen to tracks from Ars Lyrica Houston's new C-D, as Artistic Director, Matthew Dirst, chats about the making of the album, which features world-première recordings of two vocal works by Alessandro Scarlatti and we visit DiverseWorks Houston to talk with Delilah Montoya about her work that is on display in the exhibition $TIMULUS

KUHF’s Catherine Lu speaks with Shelly Power, Associate Director of Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy. The 270 aspiring choreographers and dancers, aged 9 to 20, who have been attending the Academy’s 2009 Summer Intensive Program will demonstrate their newly-developed skills and techniques, in a pair of fully-staged, costumed performances, this Thursday and Friday night at 8:00PM in the Proscenium Theater at San Jacinto College. Harpsichordist and organist Matthew Dirst is Associate Professor of Musicology at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music and Founding Artistic Director of the professional early-music ensemble, Ars Lyrica Houston. Ars Lyrica’s new world-première recording of works by Alessandro Scarlatti is available on the Naxos label. Delilah Montoya is one of 10 Houston-based visual artists who received grants from the Artadia Foundation last year. Recent work by all of them is included in the current exhibition, $TIMULUS  on view through August 15th in the gallery at DiverseWorks.
