Today, we meet Houston singer, composer and pianist, Jennifer Grassman, who performs live for us! Ms. Grassman, a former student of the University of Houston's Moores School of Music, is making a name for herself as a creator of passionate and fanciful songs, whose lyrics are often inspired by classic literature, including Shakespeare, Lewis Carroll and Tolkien … and whose melodies soar to ethereal heights…

Composer Michael Remson is the Executive and Artistic Director of the American Festival for the Arts Summer Music Conservatory; Shelly Power is Associate Director of Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy, and oversees its annual Summer Intensive Program for young dancers and choreographers, ages nine to twenty. Mister Remson and Ms. Power are directly involved with the annual World Premières Concert, which features new dance pieces, choreographed and performed by the young artists who have attended the Ballet Academy’s Summer Intensive Program, and accompanying original scores created by the high-school-aged participants from the AFA’s Composers’ Workshop. Listen Download

Adam Miller, the Artistic Director of the Cirque du Soleil production, Saltimbanco, speaks with KUHF’s Bob Stevenson.  Saltimbanco opened at the Berry Center on Barker-Cypress Road in Cypress, Texas, last night.  Performances run through Sunday then the Saltimbanco cast and crew pack everything up and move to Houston’s Toyota Center for nine more performances … Wednesday through Sunday next week, July 22nd through 26th.
