Alan Austin is the Director of the Texas Music Festival, which is half-way through its 20th Anniversary Season at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. Maestro Josep Caballé-Domenech, the Barcelona-born former Principal Guest Conductor of Sweden’s Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, leads this weekend’s performances by the Texas Music Festival Symphony Orchestra. Taiwanese violinist, Yi-Chun Lin is the winner of the Institute’s 2009 Cynthia Woods Mitchell Young Artist Competition. Lin, Ausin and Maestro Caballe-Domenech gather in the Geary Performance Studio for a preview session. Listen. Download.

KUHF’s Catherine Lu speaks with composer Michael Remson, Executive and Artistic Director of the American Festival for the Arts Summer Music Conservatory … and AFA faculty artists … pianist Rodolfo Morales, former Artistic Director of Houston’s Foundation for Modern Music … Barbara Scowcroft, 24-year member of the first violin section of the Utah Symphony and Music Director of the Utah Youth Symphony Orchestra … and Ms. Scowcroft’s husband, Ralph Matson, the Utah Symphony’s concert-master.
