We welcome back to Houston two of America's favorite family entertainers: folk-rock vocalist and guitarist Ezra Idlet and singer and bass-player, Keith Grimwood — Trout Fishing in America. They have just released a new story-book and accompanying CD for kids, My Name is Chicken Joe and join Bob Stevenson in the Geary Performance Studio for a preview session…

Robert Simpson is the Organist-choirmaster at Houston’s Christ Church Episcopal Cathedral, and also the founder and Artistic Director of the city’s oldest independent professional choral ensemble, the Houston Chamber Choir. Simpson conducts the Christ Church Cathedral Choir and Orchestra in a special musical program commemorating the 200th anniversaries of the death of Joseph Haydn and the birth of Felix Mendelssohn, with performances of the former’s Te Deum for Empress Maria Theresa and the latter’s choral Symphony Number Two, The Hymn of Praise. Simpson discusses the program with St. John Flynn. Listen. Download.

Guitarist Ezra Idlet and bassist Keith Grimwood, who as a duo are known far-and-wide as the folk-pop duo, Trout Fishing in America — are joined by Ezra’s former partners, Connie Mims and Craig Calvert, in a reunion performance by his early 70’s Houston band, Wheatfield … tonight at 7:30PM at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck, the Irish pub and roots-music venue on Norfolk Street near the intersection of Kirby Drive and the Southwest Freeway. KUHF’s Bob Stevenson hosts the duo in KUHF’s Geary Performance Studio. KUHF’s Catherine Lu speaks with Jim Nelson, General Manager of Houston Ballet and co-chair of the host committee for this year’s Dance USA National conference here in Houston … Sandra Organ, former member of the Dance USA Board of Directors and founder and Artistic Director of her own dance company here in the Bayou City … and Karen Stokes, head of the dance faculty at the University of Houston and Artistic Director of Travesty Dance Group. The Dance USA Conference begins with an opening reception tomorrow evening at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Listen. Download.
