The Front Row

The Front Row, Wednesday, 11/12/2008

Today, soprano Tracy Rhodus and Artistic Director and pianist, Michael Zuraw, perform songs by Samuel Barber, previewing the next APERIO: Music of the Americas concert — a whole evening of chamber works by Mister Barber — that recital taking place Friday evening at Houston's Covenant Church.

In our conversation with Suchu Dance Artistic Director Jennifer Wood, you’ll hear such disparate terms as “cool,” “other-worldly,” “beautiful,” “tense,” “floppy,” and “chaotic degeneration,” as Ms. Wood describes her latest choreographic effort, Impluvium.  The work will be performed in Houston for the first time, beginning tomorrow night at the Barnevelder Movement/Arts Complex. Also, we talk with the two conductors who will lead the Houston Symphony in its Jones Hall Concerts this weekend: the orchestra’s Music Director Hans Graf, and Assistant Conductor, Brett Mitchell.
