Before you run for the doors screaming, Oh no, not another feel-good movie about the importance of friendship, stop, turn around, and check out this amiable comedy-drama about a hapless art dealer (played to near-perfection by veteran Auteuil) who’s told by acquaintances at a dinner that he has no friends. Desperate to prove them wrong, he makes a bet with his business partner (the deadpan Gayet) that he can produce a best friend in 10 days. (He’s so clueless and self-absorbed, he doesn’t even realize his business partner is a lesbian.) The fun comes when the dealer’s miserable attempts at getting to know people he would previously have happily ignored backfire. He eventually enlists the help of a chatty, trivia-obsessed cab driver (you know the type; they’ll talk to anybody) who becomes his social coach…except the driver (Boon) has issues of his own. Wry observations and laugh-out-loud moments. You’ll want to be friends with this movie. Extras include a making-of featurette and a trailer.
