The Snaufer-Garvin Duo performs some of their signature repertoire for this week’s The Front Row Performance of the Week Podcast. Recorded on January 25th, 2005 this live, in-studio, concert was broadcast on the occaision of the one year anniversary of KUHF’s arts magazine The Front Row and hosted by Dean Dalton.
Regular listeners to KUHF will alos know guitarist Marc Garvin as co-host of KUHF’s Pulling Strings. This program explores the world of picked, plucked, and strummed instruments from around the globe. From flamenco guitar to classical banjo and jazz ukulele, you’ll hear some of the best and brightest pickers, pluckers, strummers and bangers around Saturday nights at 8:00 on Houston Public Radio.
Described as having performed “stunningly beautiful guitar and harp duets to a captivated audience”, Kimberly Snaufer and Marc Garvin offer an exciting and fresh repertoire to their audience. These artists merge their classical backgrounds with their unique creativity to produce arrangements of South American, Spanish and Classical music ranging from Andean folk songs to the music of Granados, Piazzolla and Bizet.
As frequent in-school performers, the Snaufer-Garvin Duo have performed and worked with school children under the auspices of the Texas Institute for Arts in Education and the Texas Commission on the Arts. Children delight in the exciting and educational performances the duo provides. They also offer musical and instrumental workshops and master-classes for children and adults.
The duo has been selected for the prestigious Heartland Arts fund. This performance roster provides performance grants to artists in its 15 state touring region throughout the United States.
