Houston Public Media’s New Political Podcast

Houston Public Media adds a new “must listen” weekly political podcast to its news lineup. Two weekly episodes Friday afternoons, one with a national focus and the other discussing what’s going on at the Texas legislature.

Houston, TX (March 27th, 2017) – Houston Public Media presents a new “must listen” weekly political podcast. Hosted by local political science professors, Jay Aiyer from Texas Southern University and Brandon Rottinghaus from the University of Houston, the podcast will bring you, not one, but two episodes every Friday afternoon. One episode will explore national political topics of the week and the second episode will discuss what’s going on at the Texas legislature, as long as the legislature is in session. Each episode will be ten to twelve minutes, designed for a commute to your weekend dinner or cocktail party.

"Everyone is talking politics these days and that’s created a real thirst for knowledge around how our political system works. We wanted to give Houstonians information that’s easily digestible, usable in general conversation and in a format that they can listen to on their own timetable," said Edel Howlin, Houston Public Media’s Executive Producer of Special Projects. "Brandon and Jay do a great job of breaking down the week’s news so you can understand it, and their sense of humor is what makes this a really entertaining weekly listen.” Take a listen to the podcast’s iTunes trailer.
