Red White and Blue: State of the City

In his first four months - Mayor Turner has had to deal with a one hundred and sixty million dollar budget shortfall and a city paralyzed by flooding. And in his first state of the city speech, Turner announced that former city councilmember and civil engineer – Steve Costello will serve as flood czar. He also asked for a pension reform deal by year’s end along with the removal of the property tax revenue cap that would help balance some of the city’s budget deficits. Some say that he’s strategically making swift moves to fix city issues. Others argue that his administration is not moving quickly enough when it comes to the issues of naming a police chief, fire chief and a director of public works. This week we ask, What steps did Mayor Turner take to balance the upcoming budget? And what is his four year plan?
