Join KUHF Houston Public Radio at the Menil Collection for the KUHF Chamber Music Ensemble Concert on October 8, 2007. Featuring 20th Century chamber music, the ensemble is comprised of public radio employees and supporters of the station. The evening will also include a special viewing of the Menil's David Whitney Bequest, featuring works by Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns and other major artists.
Familiar voices from Houston Public Radio are represented in the KUHF Chamber Music Ensemble including violinist Chris Johnson and violist Tom Molloy. The station's Director of Development, Victor Kendall, also serves as the ensemble's flutist.
The KUHF Chamber Music Ensemble serves as part of the public radio station's ongoing community outreach efforts as Mr. Kendall explains "Our concerts are an extension of our mission to entertain and inspire audiences through cultural programming. We also enjoy meeting our listeners in person. The Menil concerts are a perfect opportunity to do just that."
Now in its fourth year, the group has performed throughout the Bayou City Area. The ensemble's concerts in the intimate setting of the Museum of Fine Arts' Rienzi and the Menil Collection have become increasingly popular.
The first of four concerts will take place on October 8, 2007 at the Menil, featuring works of Phillip Glass, Henri Dutilleux, and Max Reger. The evening will include a reception at 6:00 pm with the concert starting at 7:00 pm. The Menil Collection is located at 1515 Sul Ross in the Montrose Area. Admission to the concert is free.
