Texas officials say this area does not have the same type of bridge that collapsed, but TxDot spokeswoman Janelle Gbur says the investigation may reveal other issues to consider.
"But with respect to on-going inspection of bridges and maintenance and regularity of things if it is revealed that there is an issue along that line we would certainly want to re-evaluate our program."
Bridges in Texas are inspected once every two years, which was the case with the Minneapolis bridge. Gbur says weather conditions prompt additional inspections which has happened recently because of this summer's abundant rainfall.
"We've had a variety of problems that have cropped up. Nothing significant from a bridge structure standpoint, but we have had a condition where we have had some erosion underneath the road bed on 288 near Sims Bayou that we are repairing right now on an emergency contract."
