New Trustee Takes Seat At Houston School Board

At the first meeting of the New Year, several Houston school board members gave an unofficial but important message.

“So Happy New Year to everyone and once again congratulations! I am too excited to have Wanda sitting next to me.”

“I too publicly would like to welcome Ms. Wanda Adams to our board of education.”

“Welcome to you, Ms. Adams”

That’s HISD trustees Paula Harris, Manuel Rodriguez, Jr., and Anna Eastman.

New trustee Wanda Adams was sworn into office last Thursday.

She was elected in November to represent District Nine in South Houston on the school board.

Adams thanked her new colleagues for their warm welcome.

“And also I would like to thank board services for all of their hard work, commitment and dedication over the last four weeks since I was elected in training me and making sure I knew the basis and the foundation of the Houston Independent School District.”

Trustee Greg Meyers says Adams already knows how government works since she just finished three terms on the Houston City Council.

“I want to take another opportunity to welcome my friend who I know will take the passion that she had and she gave to the city of Houston in her district and take that same passion here.”

Here Adams is taking the seat previously held by longtime trustee Larry Marshall.
