People will be able to ride Metro for free this Tuesday. Metro's Jerome Gray says to take advantage of the free rides you'll have to show a valid voter registration card.
"This is geared toward people who need to get to the polls to vote. So that means the service applies to local Metro buses, Metrolift, and light rail vehicles. It will not however apply to the park-and-ride buses."
Gray says Metro is offering the free rides as a public service, and for some people, public transit is the only option they have for getting to the polls.
"There are a number of people who rely on public transportation so this certainly would fall into those lines of andrwould fall into the lines of people using public transportation just as they would use it to go to school, to go to work, to go to a doctor's appointment."
The free rides will be available during Metro's normal operating hours. Polls are open Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
