Houston IT Hiring Gains Steam In Fourth Quarter

The survey by Robert Half Technology shows 75-percent of Houston CIO's say they plan to expand or fill vacant IT positions in the fourth quarter. That's up from 61-percent last quarter. The survey also found that 69-percent of Houston CIO's say it's challenging to find skilled IT talent.

Robert Half's Steve Robinson says the employment outlook for IT professionals continues to look good.

"Thirty-two percent in Q-3 were putting hiring plans on hold. In Q-4, there's only 20-percent that are putting hiring plans in the IT space on hold. The IT space continues to be a booming industry and vertical for job seekers."

Robinson says hot IT jobs includes networking, large database management and security professionals. He says the unemployment rate for IT professionals in Houston is under four percent.
