Officials with the Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation say as of midnight, they'd received 19 official proposals on what to do with the Dome. Edgar Colon is the organization's chairman.
"Some of them were not exactly in the level of detail that we were hoping or expecting, but we are in the process of evaluating each and every one of them to determine their viability."
Colon says some of the proposals were simply e-mailed ideas with very little detail or ways to pay for them. But he says there were eight proposals that could be considered serious.
"They were certain variations to some of the things that we have heard before and by that I mean museums, maybe restaurants, retail, that kind of thing."
The Sports and Convention Corporation is also developing a proposal of its own that could use public funding. The corporation will present that idea along with any viable privately-funded proposals to Harris County Commissioners on June 25th.
Voters will likely get the final say sometime in the next couple of years.
