Texas Businesses See Below-Average Gains From Online Advertising

The annual Google Economic Impact Report estimates that, in 2012, clicks through the company’s search engine and online advertising generated $94 billion in economic activity for nearly 2 million companies nationwide.

Niki Fenwick is a spokesperson for Google.

“For Texas specifically, we found that we generated about $5.1 billion of economic activity, which is up about 15% from the year before.”

That’s a slightly smaller increase in revenue than the national average. Fenwick attributes this to Texas businesses having a comparatively low presence online. She says roughly half of Texas businesses are not online, compared to 40% for all U.S. businesses.
