Positions are available in transportation, oil and gas, healthcare, security, IT, retail and other fields at the job fair. It's from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Norris Houston CityCentre on Town and Country Blvd.
Kevin Robbins with JobNewsHouston.com says applicants should come prepared, as if they're arriving to a job interview.
"The benefits of going to a job fair is you're speaking directly with a hiring manager. Now you get to sit right in front of the person who makes that decision — you know, put a smile with that resume, and a character. Let them put two and two together. A better opportunity to get into the door when you're standing there looking right at the person, handing the resume. There are companies that are going to be interviewing on the spot and hiring on the spot, so that'll be happening, as well."
Robbins says there are so many who've been unemployed for a couple of years, now, and have given up looking. But he says this job fair could help.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is also taking part.
Again, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Norris Houston CityCentre on Town and Country Blvd.
