Oh, The Places You Can See Wildflowers In Houston

For the past several years, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department has planted wildflowers at locations around the city.

This year's fall planting was in honor of Lady Bird Johnson, who spearheaded efforts to protect native plants around the country and in Texas. The former first lady's work is carried on today at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin.

One of the most popular wildflower displays in Houston is the Memorial Park Esplanade.

Bluebonnets, Indian Blankets, and other local wildflowers surround the red abstract sculpture known as "3/4 Time." In the background is the vine-draped Living Bridge.
