Managers Cautious But Upbeat About Texas Economy

Eighty-five percent of Texas business managers surveyed expect the economy to expand or remain the same this year. Ron Martin is chief operating officer of UHY Advisors Texas, which conducted the survey. He describes the overall mood as “cautiously optimistic.”

“What I find encouraging in looking at this survey today is that in spite of economic uncertainty in the global economy — clearly there’s some uncertainty politically domestically — that our business leaders remain upbeat.”

More than 90% of executives say their companies will increase or hold employment steady this year. Almost two-thirds forecast their companies’ revenue will rise, while more than a third plan to increase capital investment.
