The two ended up in a run-off race after neither won a majority in January's special election.
Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart says this race is gaining momentum.
"Believe it or not, a run-off is usually less, it looks like it's going to be the same and maybe even slightly more. We actually did in the early voting and the ballot by mail, we've exceeded what we actually did in the January election. So we're expecting 7,000-8,000 to show up on Saturday and let their voice be heard."
Stanart says the county has already received 8,780 early and mail ballots for the run-off, more than the amount turned in for the special election in January.
Senate District 6 covers a large swath of north and east Houston and parts of Pasadena and Baytown.
The county will open about 135 polling locations for the run-off.
"It's a large district. It's a large number of people who are affected in this county, so they need to check harrisvotes.com to know if they can go vote."
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
