Hobby is partnering with USA Parking System for the valet service, that allows customers to drop off their vehicle in front of the terminal, receive help with their luggage, and have the vehicle returned to them washed, warmed up and ready to go.
Liliana Rambo with the Houston Airport System says valet parking began at Bush (IAH) at the end of June, but has taken off in its short time at the smaller airport.
"Hobby has actually been a great success. I mean in the last three days that we opened up just in the soft opening, we have over 37 vehicles that have been parked, which is a lot more than Intercontinental. But we think this is a great product, great added value, and here at Hobby Airport, where people usually take a little bit longer time looking for parking space, this is just the best thing that we could offer our customers for customer service."
Perry Miller came over from Bush Airport to become the GM at Hobby. He calls the service a no-brainer for travelers.
"If you start valet today, we're offering introductory discounted rate, which is only a few dollars more than what we charge for our one day parking in the garage. You'll get a convenient online reservation system to speed up the process for parking, get a USA Today newspaper and a free bottle of water. So, we knew it would be a good fit for our passengers traveling out of here."
The charge for valet will be $25 dollars-a-day, but both major airports are offering special daily valet rates for $20 until early January.
