Texas Leads The Nation In New Hires For January

The BLS is reporting that nonfarm payroll employment rose in 37 states in January from December. Texas saw the largest over-the-month increase, adding more than 67,000 new jobs. New York came in second, while Ohio ranked third.

Thirteen states plus the District of Columbia lost jobs over the course of the month, with Florida seeing the biggest losses.

Over the year, nonfarm employment increased in 44 states and the District of Columbia, falling in six states. North Dakota saw the largest percentage gain at 5.7% from January 2011. Texas tied with Utah for the second place.
