Greater Houston Led US In Jobs Added For December

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says the Houston area added nearly 76,000 jobs in December last year. That put the Bayou City far out in front of the nation’s 372 metro areas for new hires month-over-month. New York City came in second, just shy of 49,000, while Dallas-Fort Worth took third with about 46,000.

BLS estimates Greater Houston’s unemployment rate at 7.3% for December, down from 7.5% in November. The national unemployment rate in December was 8.3%, down from just over 9% a year earlier.
