With that said, the rest of this year's nomination list gives Williams' scores some stiff competition:
As they say…"The Nominees are…"
As with last year's Academy awards, I look at the odd-ball-out score…this year it's Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy. Iglesias chose a minimalist approach, fusing classical and jazz elements together with melodies of unanswered phrases. If you'll remember, last year Trent Reznor was the victorious newcomer with his electronic score to "The Social Network", beating out such lush orchestral scores as "How to Train Your Dragon" and "The King's Speech". But maybe it will be the lush, traditional score's turn this year. Ludovic Bource has already sealed the deal with the Golden Globes for his score. But Howard Shore is adding heat to this contest with "Hugo". Shore's score was composed with a Parisian band inside a full orchestra. This made some wonderful orchestral coloring.
The competition is stiff. It will be fun to see who is victorious.
