Prudential Life Building Razed For MD Anderson Expansion

The former Prudential building site will eventually house an expansion of the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Susan Lipka is the center’s associate vice president for capital planning.

“We have a master plan for that site that we had started with the development of the Mays Building, which opened in 2005 on that site. And the idea is to create a second clinical building that would mirror the Mays Building, which has outpatient exam rooms in that facility, as well as diagnostic and treatment facilities.”

Lipka says it’ll be at least five to seven years before construction begins. MD Anderson estimates the construction cost at $383 million.
