Crews Get Field Ready For Big Game

Grounds crews at Reliant Stadium spent much of the day painting the football field. There were also TV crews from NBC getting all their equipment ready as well.

"This is one of the pulleys that goes on the dolley that the camera hangs under."

I met Michael Foster who works with the camera that hangs from cables. I asked him if the cameramen get excited for the play offs or if it’s just another game for them.

"Well we do get excited about it, because yes it is another job. It's another pay check, but yeah it's fun to be involved in a playoff game. There’s  a lot more fun and atmosphere. It’s a lot more fun than, I don’t want to say a regular old game, but yeah, it’s a lot more fun."

"Kickoff says 3:30, but our show is going to start at 3:00."

Texans team president Jaime Rootes says there will be more entertainment for this game than a regular season game.

"We’re getting Clay Walker, who is the performer of our theme song, 'Football Time in Houston.' It (has) some special twists, some acrobatics and some pyrotechnics associated with that. I’ve got a special flag presentation our 'Texas Our Texas' featuring our Love Ya Blue Heroes. Bum Phillips, Yolanda Adams, Dennis Quaid, I mean, it’s going to be a star-studded spectacle for the pregame. It’s our first ever playoff game here at home, so we want to make sure that its special and memorable for our fans."

Since the team’s first season ten years ago the goal has been to make the playoffs. Although the team has now done that Rootes says they’re now going after a bigger goal.

"The expectation for us every year as you line it up, is to win a championship and this is one step in the process. We’re certainly not done. You know 32 teams start this every year. 31 go away disappointed. We hope to be the one. We want to be in Indianapolis holding that Lombaardi Trophy at the end of the year. That’s the real goal, but it’s great to take that first  step."

Kickoff is at 3:30, the entertainment starts at 3:00, and the tailgating is sure to start early in the morning.
