Congressman Brady On Conference Committee To Resolve Payroll Tax Extension Issues

A conference committee is charged with resolving differences between the House-passed year-long extension and the Senate-passed two-month extension, as Congressman Kevin Brady explains.

"I'm on this conference committee because I believe we ought to extend this for the full year, you know, that we ought to find the spending cuts and the reforms that make sure that we don't dig the deficit deeper. And I'm convinced that if we can get Senate democrats to sit across the table with us, we can get this done."

Brady says he's concerned that the payroll tax cut hasn't provided the economic boost it was supposed to, and it diverts a significant part of social security revenue.  The tax cut is set to expire at the end of December.
