Like many other Texas industries, aviation is getting a lift from the strength of the energy sector. Oil and gas companies depend on being able to ship key people and components between Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and Midland at a moment’s notice. For that, there are few real alternatives to flying.
Janine Iannarelli is president of Par Avion Ltd., a Houston-based business aircraft marketing firm.
“I think anyone who does business in the state, anyone in the aircraft industry, and has the benefit of being able to work with oil and gas companies, they’re weathering the storm perhaps a little bit better than our counterparts, say, in the central United States or even the eastern United States. Though the truth is, for business aviation as a whole to recover, we need a recovery through a broad spectrum of industry.”
The fourth quarter is typically the busiest quarter of the year for business aviation. But Iannarelli says the fourth quarter of 2011 is about as weak as the previous three.
