Hotel industry tracking firm STR says the demand for Houston hotel rooms for the first nine months of this year topped 12 million. That’s up nearly 11% from a year ago.
“Houston actually had the highest demand increase of the top twenty-five markets.”
Amanda Hite is president of STR.
“People are still traveling even though we’re seeing not wonderful conditions on a macro level. Businesses are still traveling. We had record demand during the leisure summer season.”
Nationwide, hotel room demand is now at an all-time high. The industry sold more than 814 million rooms in the first nine months of this year. That’s up 3% from the previous January through September record, set in 2007.
