Houston Air Show This Weekend

It's a mix of old and new air technology, and part of the old is the Tora! Tora! Tora! Pearl Harbor re-enactment. Patrick Hutchins is a Tora! Tora! Tora! pilot.

"So what we're doing is a living history lesson. I don't know much of this stuff they still teach in schools nowadays. So kids can come out to the air show and learn about history and learn about that day. It's just like 9/11 — we don't never, ever need to forget what happened on 9/11. So most people understand that we are just recreating history and not glorifying war."

Hutchins says it's not as hard as you might think to find spare parts.

"Twentieth-Centry Fox built all of these airplanes for the movie 'Tora! Tora! Tora!' and what they used to build these airplanes with was World War II trainers — North American T-6's. And there are still plenty of T-6 parts readily available, and since they're not authentic Japanese airplanes, the parts are readily available."

The Airshow includes a low-level aerobatic helicopter, skydivers, an aerial water drop, the F-16 Falcons and jets from the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.
