The outgoing president of the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. John Mendelsohn, came to the KUHF studios this week. Dr. Mendelsohn sat down with KUHF's David Pitman to talk about the biggest change to cancer treatment in the 15 years that he lead the center. Also, Dr. Mendelsohn shares what he needs to re-learn to jump back into regular lab work in his next role at M.D. Anderson. And the doctor tackled the question of whether advocacy for a cleaner environment could put someone in his position at odds with local industries who might want to support cancer research and care.
