State biologists are asking coastal anglers, boaters and homeowners to report the exact location of fish kills occurring on the upper and central Texas coast. Tom Harvey, with Texas Parks and Wildlife, says biologists are closely watching an area with a history of fish kills.
Menhaden, are a forage species that provides food for larger fish. Menhaden are also commercially harvested for pet food, so they are important ecologically and commercially. Harvey says anyone who sees a fish kill should call Texas Parks and Wildlife's 24-hour hotline 512-389-4848.
