Try Before You Buy

working peopleIt’s no secret that Houston is adding jobs faster than much of the rest of the country. Energy firms, hospitals, banks and even manufacturers are hiring.  What’s less often remarked on is that many of the new jobs are temp-to-perm or temp-to-hire.

Brittna Valenzuela is Houston-area vice president with Kelly Services.

“We have seen a lot more temp-to-hire-type situations, and that gives the company an opportunity to determine if this is a good fit for the company, but it also gives the employee an opportunity to determine if that culture, if that organization, is a good fit for them.”

Valenzuela estimates as much as 20% of new hires in the Houston area begin as temporary or contract positions.
