Tilman Fertitta assumes ownership of Trump Casino in Atlantic City

The giant "Trump" letters have been removed from the front of the casino, and Tilman Fertitta expects renovations to be completed by December. Fertitta says the overwhelming majority of the casino's current workforce of about 1,500 will be kept on during the transition. He plans to build a second hotel tower within the next few years to expand the Golden Nugget's 740-room capacity.

"It's great. The state of New Jersey worked with us to get this property closed very quickly, and we're already in the middle of renovations and it's gonna be a great property, and we're excited to have our third Golden Nugget here."

Ed: "What types of renovations are you talking about — what does $150 million do, renovation-wise?"

"Well, it attacks every single inch of this property, and that's what we're excited about, because it's everywhere. Every single room is being totally gutted, to every part of the casino, to all of our new restaurants. So we're excited about it."

Landry's owns and runs more than 300 restaurants, including the Rainforest Cafe, as well as the Downtown Aquarium complexes in Houston and Denver and the Kemah Boardwalk.
