A few years ago Air Alliance Houston decided to do more than a Fun Run around Earth Day. Spokeswoman Robin Cavanaugh says the idea was to get green non-profits together to spread their messages.
"It’s a celebration, but at the same time it's really an educational event."
The informative part of the day is wrapped around a lot of day long family fun events. Cavanaugh says Discovery Green will be set up with various "zones".
One is for kids.
"There's a big play area, inflatable sun, face painting, a kids stage that's very interactive."
For Adults there's an eco gardening zone.
"It'll be about ten booths, and it's all related to the latest techniques on green gardening and landscaping, and we think that is going to be a very big hit."
Cavanaugh says Chevrolet is one of the sponsors making this a free event and it's providing two all electric Chevy Volts.
