Texas City Pipeline Fixed

The rupture last Thursday morning sent about 5-thousand gallons of gasoline into a bayou, and forced the evacuation of more than 30 homes and businesses. Pipeline owner Magellan Midstream Partners says work to replace the failed section of the line was completed yesterday.

"The Office of Pipeline Safety, last night, gave us the authority to go ahead and resume operations."

Bruce Heine, with Magellan, says while gasoline is once again moving through the pipeline, the clean-up effort is not yet complete.

Ch. 11 's coverage of the pipeline rupture, which prompted evacuations and road closure in Texas City.

"We were able to recapture the gasoline that got into Bayou Pierre successfully. And, we'll be working on clean-up operations there at the actual release site to remove the contaminated soil and get the area back to normal as quickly and  safely as we possibly can."

Heine says a boom between a drainage canal and the bayou will remain in place as a precaution.
