"One of the best rehab hospitals in the nation and one of the closest of the best is in the city of Houston, and that's the
TIRR Memorial Hermann Rehab Hospital."

Mark Kelly says the family and Giffords' doctors also considered rehab facilities in other cities, including Chicago, New York and Washington D.C., but Houston was the best fit.
"It's got an outstanding world-class reputation. The doctors and nurses there are among the best at treating head injuries like Gabby has been dealing with."
Kelly is a NASA astronaut and Space Shuttle Commander. He's scheduled to fly aboard Endeavour in April. He says having Giffords close to home was a crucial part of the decision to bring her here.
"I don't know how long this whole process is going to take, but if I want to at some point address the situation with our children who are teenage girls going to school everyday and also be able to at some point consider the possibility of returning to work, it makes most sense that she is in Memorial Hermann in Houston, Texas."
Dr. John Holcomb, a trauma surgeon at TIRR Memorial Hermann, will lead the team of physicians caring for Giffords here in Houston.
