One More Year For Kubiak

After five season as head coach of the Houston Texans, head coach Gary Kubiak has failed to do one of the main things he was hired to do. Get the team to the playoffs for the first time in team history. In most professions, including sports, that would mean termination but team owner Bob McNair thought it over, met with Kubiak and decided to give him one more year. This is coach Kubiak:

"We visited today and decided on a new direction and obviously him giving me a chance to move us in that direction I am thankful for that and I appreciate that I know we have a lot of work to do."

The Texans finished the season with a disappointing record of six wins and ten losses. Both fans and observers expected more this year and thought a trip to the playoffs was well within the team’s reach.

"Definitely wasn’t all coaching, in my opinion. I mean we’ve got issues across the board, but I have to make a decision on how we get better, so I made the decision to let those guys go and I retained a coach and have to think about where we’re going next."

Where is this team going next? The playoffs start next week and the team won’t be going there. Texans players and fans will be watching the games on television, wondering what could have been, while once again, looking towards next season.
