"They’ve been in my life ever since they’ve been born. Jacori has been in my life basically since he was born. Angel was in foster care for a little while and then we got her back."
"This is going to be Priscilla Amira Marie Borden. I’m grandma."
The Borden have been foster parents to 16 month old Priscilla since she was four days old. Now Robert is officially dad.
"It’s just awesome to even be where we are at today. The amount of times we’ve come to court fighting for her best interests and seeing her grow from where she was when we first got her. Having her part of our family is just awesome."
About half of the children are being adopted by a relative, the other half by people like the Bordens who just wanted to be parents.
Terri Ggers helps puts on this event each year and knows how special it is for the both the children and the parents.
"My husband and I adopted five children and so our experience has been that this day is the biggest of their lives. They don’t remember a lot of their past, but they’ll remember the day they got a forever family."
Judge: "We’re on the record in the cause number 20-10-73917 in the interest of Jose Luis Herrera, Joel Herrera and Jessica Herrera. Would evryone who intends to testify in regards to this adoption, raise your right hand."
"Jessica, do you know why you’re here today?
"Do you want her to grant this adoption? Can you tell the judge what you want your new name to be?"
In between court hearings some of the smaller children sat on Santa’s lap and told them what they wanted for Christmas. Many of them too small to comprehend they’ve just been given a gift that’s as good as they come.
"For this to be Christmas, Christmas is the celebration of the gift of a child. How much more important is Christmas today and receiving a family and the gift of this family than it would be any other time of the year?"
