Texas Children's Hospital is building a pedestrian bridge over Fannin Street.
"And we cannot continue to operate rail safely this weekend during that construction phase."
Metro spokesman George Smalley says there will be shuttle busses on streets parallel to the light rail line.
"Downtown, that shuttle bus will run on Travis Street going northbound, and Fannin Street going southbound. And then in the Medical Center, the shuttle bus will run on Main Street between Cambridge Street and the Texas Medical Center Transit Center. So it's about a block off the rail line."
The shuttles will run every six minutes during the day, twelve minutes at night. Metro has already scheduled another light rail shutdown two weekends from now. The closures will not conflict with any Texans games at Reliant Stadium.
